Dive in complete safety

Although diving insurance is not compulsory, it is strongly recommended that you take out one. Scuba diving is an extreme sport. Every year, there are many diving accidents around the world. Taking out this type of insurance means you don’t have to pay any major out-of-pocket expenses. Diving insurance not only covers costs, but also provides assistance in the event of an accident. Some insurers, such as DAN South-Africa, offer specific cover for diving. This insurance is independent of your travel insurance. Specific insurance provides good cover in the event of an accident, as well as assistance with repatriation, transport to hospital, etc. Aqua diving only accepts divers with specific insurance cover for underwater activities.

Medical certificate

It is generally not necessary to consult a doctor before diving with us. We will simply ask you to complete the Diver Medical Screen Committee (DMSC) international medical questionnaire. This system consists of three parts:

Diver Medical Questionnaire :
a) 10 general questions to be answered by the diver. If all the answers are ‘no’, you can dive.
b) If you answer ‘yes’ to any question, additional questions will be asked. If all the answers are ‘no’ to these additional questions, you may dive.
c) If you are unable to answer ‘no’ to all the questions, or if you would like a more in-depth health check, we recommend that you consult a specialist doctor.
The DMSC also provides doctors with additional information on the links between certain medical conditions and diving.

Please feel free to download the questionnaire to consult it at home and, if necessary, see a doctor. You can also email us a copy before you leave.
